Austin Summer Rowing Camp
A fun yet competitive, low cost opportunity to train for & compete at the 2009 Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, August 4-9, 2009, in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.

Audience
Camp is open to 16 male rowers and 2 coxswains (either gender), over the age of 18 with at least one year of collegiate rowing experience. Exception: High School graduates may participate if over the age of 18 & two years competitive experience.

Dates
June 15 - August 9, 2009 - if you arrive in Austin early, that is fine, we can get you started early.

Registration open/close dates
Applications will be taken starting February 1, and will close May 1. Applications received after May 1 will be accepted on a space-available basis. Once you are accepted, you will receive an email with a link to provide your deposit.

Minimum/Preferred best 2k standards*

Men: 6:45/6:35

*All are encouraged to apply. If necessary, a wait list will be established.

Training

M-F Start time approx 6:00AM to accommodate employment (actual time tbd)
- Small boats & big boat training

2-3x / week: Training on your own either in pairs or in air-conditioned erg room.

Saturday morning, TBD

Housing

Rowers are expected to provide their own housing. However, we will contact the many members of Austin rowing community about sublet-ing to summer camp participants on a first-come first-served basis. Additionally, being a college town with 50,000 students, Austin is certain to have hundreds of subletting opportunities. We recommend making www.craigslist.org your best friend.

If you arrive without housing, it is very likely you will be able to be accomodated.

Cost- $250 + Travel (Flight, hotel, food)

The cost for all coaching, camp shirt, equipment, and facilities fees, is $250. This allows use of the Austin Rowing Club's locker-room and showers, ARC and Texas Crew's equipment, and all coaching.

The cost of competing in the Henley Regatta will be determined once race categories have been decided. We have reserved a block of rooms in St. Catharines. You may choose to stay at this hotel, or provide your own housing. Some choose to even camp on Henley island. We hope to offset the cost of boat transport and keep all costs to a minimum.
