Nate Fox is a current Novice Men's assistant coach for Texas Crew. An alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia; he was a collegiate rower for four years from 2003 through 2007 and served as the team's captain for the 2006-2007 season. He began coaching the following fall, assisting with both Varsity squad's at his Alma mater, Walt Whitman High School. After moving to Austin at the end of 2008, Nate joined Texas Crew for the 2009 spring season. While new to collegiate coaching, Fox believes his three years experience rowing for the University of Pennsylvania's Varsity 8 has prepared him well. Having come from Philadelphia, he is familiar with most of the field at the Canadian Henley, and will give a unique perspective in coaching the Austin Rowing Camp. Bob KrentlerBob Krentler is the head coach of Texas Crew. In 2008 Bob coached the Austin Rowing Camp women to a second place finish in the Championship 8+ Event at the Canadian Henley Regatta and several other appearances in the Henley finals. As varsity men's coach at Texas Crew, Bob and Stephen Moursund led the varsity eight to a gold medal in the championship eight at the 2008 Head of the Hooch Regatta. Prior to this role, Bob joined Texas Crew as freshmen men's coach, revamping recruiting and retention methods, leading to the largest and most succesful classes to date at Texas. At Texas, Bob and his fellow coaches led Texas Crew's freshmen men to their best ever finishes, winning four SIRA gold medals in two years in the eights, and a bronze at the 2006 ECAC national invitational regatta. In 2005, Bob's crews medaled every event entered and in 2006 pulled off a clean gold medal sweep of the three freshmen men's 8+ events at SIRA regatta. Before coming to Austin, Bob was head coach of the Rochester Rowing Club of Minnesota. After building a junior program from the ground up, Bob's crews produced several midwest junior rowing association championships, and a bronze medal at the 2004 US Rowing youth invitational. That crew went on to win the Groton cup at the 2004 Women's Henley Regatta, in Henley-on-the-Thames, England. Bob's women have gone deep into selection for the junior national team and several rowed for D1 programs such as Princeton, Minnesota, and Iowa. Before coaching, Bob rowed for Grosse Ile High School, in Grosse Ile, MI, and for the Wyandotte Boat Club, competing in the Royal Canadian Henley in the vaunted, feared, and entirely slow 140# category. Currently, Bob is employed as an electrical engineer, and has spent his career designing components of the Sony Playstation 3, and Microsoft XBox 360. Bob attended the University of Michigan, and is a US Rowing Level II certified coach. Bob currently is working on his graduate education at the University of Texas and hopes to begin a rowing shell company in the future. Stephen MoursundStephen Moursund is the current Varsity Men's assistant coach for Texas Crew. An alumnus of Washington University in St. Louis; he was a collegiate rower for four years from 2002 through 2006 and served as the team's captain for the 2005-2006 season. He began coaching the following fall, handling the novice women's squad at Washington University in 2006 before coming to Austin and joining Texas Crew in 2007. Moursund's crews took Gold and Silver in the Freshman Novice 4+ at the 2007 Head of the Hooch Regatta, and together with Bob Krentler he coached the Novice Men's 8+ to a 5th place finish at the first annual ACRA National Championship Regatta.
